Chesterfield Sunday League - Division 3
Result: Elton 7-4 Wingerworth Barley Mow
After the disappointing defeat at Ark Tavern 2 weeks ago, Elton returned to winning ways against fourth placed Wingerworth. Elton cruised into a 2-0 lead after just 5 minutes. The first came when a long Andrew Rhodes free kick fell into the path of Anthony Porter to stab home under the keeper. The lead was doubled after a defensive clearance from Billy Lester landed to Tim Baker who was upended in the box, and Baker despatched the spot kick. Wingerworth reduced the deficit with their first shot at goal, but Sam Lightfoot claimed a quick fire double to send the hosts into the second period with a 4-1 lead. The first action of the second half saw Wingerworth get a second with a free header from a corner. The hosts upped the tempo and a clever free kick from Porter found Baker at the front post and the striker turned and smashed home. The impressive Porter scored his second after beating the offside trap and then the keeper at the second attempt and claimed his hat trick by drilling home from 25 yards. Wingerworth took advantage of poor Elton defending to score two more goals but the result was never in doubt and the hosts maintained their position at the summit of Division 3.

Sunday 13th December 2009
Chesterfield Sunday League - Division 3
Result: Elton 3-0 Creswell Rose & Crown
Elton recorded their 8th successive victory as they brushed aside Creswell with a well disciplined performance at The Thistle. The hosts went on the front foot from the first whistle, but some good goalkeeping and last ditch defending kept Elton at bay until Anthony Porter fed Billy Lester through and his shot was blocked by the keeper but into the path of Sam Lightfoot to score. Lightfoot was denied a second before half time by the keeper before Creswell missed a golden chance to level with their first shot of the game. The second half saw the introduction of Elton talisman Tim Baker and his first action of the game was to score from the spot after a clumsy challenge on Lightfoot. The scoring was completed after Lee Marsden latched onto another Porter through ball to pick his spot and finish into the roof of the net.

Result: Elton 10-1 Double Top
Elton returned to the top of division 3 table after scoring double figures for the second time this season. Matt Dennis made his debut and his 25 yard screamer opened the scoring in the opening 5 minutes. James Wood doubled his sides lead with a bullet header from Billy Lester’s flag kick. Aaron O’Neill struck from 20 yards to make it 3-0 and that was followed by Lester’s close range volley to send the hosts into the interval 4 goals to the good. Goals from Sam Lightfoot, Rob Lightfoot and Jack Stacey made it 7-0 before an Andrew Rhodes own goal reduced the arrears.
