Improvement Project

The Jubilee Field committee are currently engaged in a major 'Improvement Project.' The project aims to create a modern sports and recreational field for use by village residents, the wider community and people of all ages, gender and ability.

The committee has recently started work on the new pavilion/club house and a new access road which will create better access for the elderly and disabled (click here to view images).  The project also includes the provision of a flood-lit multi-use games facility and a rejuvenated children's play area.
Jubilee Sports & Recreation Field
About the Jubilee Field

The field and its facilities are used throughout the year by individuals, sports teams and village organisations.

The Jubilee Field is open to the general public at all times and doubles up as cricket field in summer and a football pitch in winter. Elton's cricket club and football club use the field to

host their home matches. The Jubilee Field accommodates a children's playing area.
History

The Jubilee Field had been the unofficial village recreation field for Elton for many generations. In 1977 when the field came up for public auction a number of small groups such as the WI and Football Club held a host of fundraising events. This, along with various loans (again from supporting locals) secured the purchase, meaning Elton had its own playing field. A committee of representatives from village user groups was appointed to run the Jubilee Field.

A second-hand pavilion was added the following year. This served as a much needed changing facility and club room for many user groups, including the village school.
The Jubilee Field is managed by a committee of trustees who are selected by and represent the individual organisations within the parish. These trustees are responsible for the management of the Jubilee Field and organize fund raising events. Village residents also contribute to the up-keep of the Jubilee Field and its pavilion.

The Jubilee Field and Pavilion can be hired for £5.00 per session for village residents, clubs and organisations. Outside persons and groups are charged £25.00.
Beer Festival

The Jubilee Field is home to Elton's Annual Beer Festival. The event is held very August Bank Holiday weekend to raise funds for the Jubilee Field and  'Improvement Project'.

Revellers from across the county and beyond enjoy a weekend of real ale, live music, entertainment and food. A campsite within the village is provided to revellers who wish to stay for the whole weekend.

The Beer Festival has increased in popularity year on year and continues to pull in the crowds.

'Elton Beer Festival 2008' was the most successful to date raising a remarkable £6000.
